I finally visited the Tucson Museum of Art. It was small and focused on Mexican art. My favorite sections were modern art, Native American art and photography. The curatorial department chose a nice red orange for accent walls. Clay and wood 3D pieces popped against the bold backdrop. Some of my favorite pieces:
Why must every museum have the same cement walls?!
After wandering around the museum for an hour and a half, I explored the surrounding Presidio District. I’d been there before but went with a mission of snapping photographs for this blog entry.
I tried a new-to-me coffee shop: Dandelion Cafe. It was strange. A decent iced latte but bad furniture/interior design. The seating area above was fine, but the rest of the cafe was furnished with sofas and oversized chairs someone’s grandparent died in. (And the pale yellow-green color scheme was carried throughout the building.
My souvenir from the museum: a 3D-printed planter in the style of a Barrio Viejo home. I’d seen Tucson Plant Casitas online but whenever I saw one in a gift shop, the color combo wasn’t to my liking. Until I saw this one. I haven’t had any luck with cacti/succulents, so I’m not sure what small plant I’ll put in it.
